Class begins at Harman Professional University

WORLD: Harman Professional Solutions has unveiled the Harman Professional University, designed to deliver a comprehensive curriculum of training courses for customers, partners and industry professionals. Online and instructor-led courses vary across industry disciplines, such as audio, video, control and networked A/V, and multiple certification tiers to cater for students of different skill levels.

The certification is split into three tiers, the first of which is an instructor-led multipart series with a focus on basic industry knowledge for anyone at any level in the A/V industry. The second tier, associate level, is an online assessment that sees students demonstrate proficiency in the certification’s subject matter. What Harman has deemed its ‘professional level of training’, the third tier involves written and practical exams, with student proving their capability to perform on the job tasks without assistance, earning the Professional Level Certification.

The Professional Level Certification is valid for three years from completion, with the option to renew by continuing enrolment on the training programme. Harman is confident that the new certifications will provide a ‘greater depth of instruction and more real-world relevance’. Those holding existing AMX certification are offered the opportunity to convert to the Harman Professional University programme.

‘Our entire purpose is to facilitate knowledge transfer that’s focused on empowering our partners to be successful in their deployment of Harman solutions,’ said senior manager of Harman Professional University, Chris Backus. ‘All of our efforts are focused on successful delivery outcomes. Teaching is one thing, but teaching with partner success as the targeted objective is something very different.’
