FBI opens up membership

WORLD: Following successful events at trade shows in 2015, Females in the Broadcast Industry (FBI) has officially launched. The group, which is free to join, is aimed at women working in non-craft roles in the broadcast industry such as sales, operations, marketing, engineering and business.

‘After the great success of the two events that we have already held at IBC and the discussion and coverage that this generated we decided to formalise the group and open up membership,’ said Sadie Groom, founder of the FBI initiative and managing director of Bubble & Squeak. ‘We hope that women, and men, will join us to start a real discussion on the issues involved and come to our events with ideas for what the broadcast industry can be doing better to encourage women to come into this sector. In addition, we hope this will result in more women holding senior positions across the industry.’

To coincide with the launch, FBI has unveiled its initial advisory panel, consisting of a number of high-profile women from across the broadcast industry. The group, which is open to both man an women, will bring together the broadcast industry’s top women and associations to create panel discussions and networking events. It already has plans for events at the coming BVE show in London and Cabsat in Dubai.
