WORLD: Having received almost 80 entries across 10 different categories, IABM has announced the shortlisted candidates for its Design and Innovation Awards. A panel of 40 independent industry expert judges will select the final winners, which will be announced at the awards ceremony on 10th September at IBC 2016. In addition, the winning entries will be automatically submitted for IABM’s Peter Wayne award.
In addition to the ten categories based on IABM’s market segmentation, an additional category is being introduced this year to cater for submissions outside of the remit. Nominees in the audio category are Calrec Audio, CEDAR Audio and Studer, while the playout and delivery category comprises of Elemental Technologies, Imagine Communications and PlayBox Technology. Other categories include acquisition and production, postproduction, content and communication infrastructure, storage, system automation and control, playout and delivery, test, quality control and monitoring, and services.
‘The very high quality of the entries for this year’s awards shows our industry continues to innovate at an incredible rate,’ explained John Ive, IABM director of technology and strategic insight, and chairman of the judging panel. ‘It has been a tough task to choose between so many excellent submissions in reaching the shortlist, and the judges will have a harder job still to select the final winners. Just making the shortlist is an accolade in itself.’
