John Demskie passes away

WORLD: RTI founder and CEO, John Demskie, has passed away unexpectedly at the age of 48 in his home in Florida. Mr Demskie started RTI in 1992 inside the one-room apartment that he lived in at the time. An enthusiastic hardware engineer, he was passionate about electronics and home theatre technology and described as a ‘tinkerer’. His company was born of Mr Demskie’s desire to create a universal remote that would prevent coffee tables from being littered with dozens of remote controls.

‘John was a true pioneer in home automation. His passion for designing and creating innovative solutions has greatly influenced the control market,’ said Mike Everett, VP of sales and marketing, Americas at RTI. ‘We are dedicated to furthering his technical vision which is at the heart of this company. He will be greatly missed within our RTI family and the industry as a whole.’
