WORLD: As the dust settled on NAB in Las Vegas, the ink dried on an agreement that was signed at the event between Lawo and 3IT (Innovation Center for Immersive Imaging Technologies) founded by Berlin’s Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institute (Fraunhofer HHI).
Combining the functionality of an R&D facility, research lab and showroom, 3IT tests new products and system, presenting them to target audiences in conjunction with partners from the economic and scientific communities. With a focus on producing future-proof and sustainable AoIP solutions, Lawo will utilise its agreement with 3IT present its latest products and developments to the broadcast industry.
The agreement was signed by director of the Fraunhofer HHI, Prof Dr Ing Thomas Wiegand, and Philipp Lawo, CEO of Lawo. The manufacturer will soon be hosting an event at 3IT in which the partners as well as third party technology partners will be discussing IP broadcasting approaches and solutions.
‘3IT is the ideal place to get in touch with industry participants, political institutions and R&D facilities, and to introduce the latest technologies within the field of video-over-IP,’ explained Mr Lawo. ‘Our products facilitate a safe transfer to fully IP-based production environments, and all are based on open standards like SMPTE 2022-6 and VSF TR-03/04. It is all the more important to present and discuss our approaches on the 3IT platform.’
‘With Lawo as a new partner, we are very pleased to welcome a German manufacturer that is active in the broadcast industry,’ said Prof Dr Ing Wiegand. ‘The V__matrix IP Core System presented by the company at NAB is an example of Lawo’s technology leadership – globally represented and providing forward-facing products in the field of IP-for-broadcast. Forthcoming events involving Lawo will, give us an intensive and informative knowledge exchange.’
