WORLD: The nominees for the 31st annual TEC Awards have been announced by the NAMM Foundation, with a number of categories focused on pro audio brands and technology. The results will be announced at a ceremony taking place on the evening of Saturday January 23rd during the 2016 NAMM Show in Anaheim, California.
Combining sectors such as sound reinforcement, studio technology and MI equipment, the TEC Awards (or NAMM Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards) is typically a more star-studded occasion than most industry ceremonies. The 2016 edition will be no exception, with Jeff ‘Skunk’ Baxter of Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers due to be inducted into the hall of fame alongside the founders of Record Plant, the studio behind hits from Stevie Wonder, The Eagles, The Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton.
Technical categories at this year’s event include ‘Large Format Console Technology’, with nominees comprising the Midas Pro X, the Roland M-5000, Solid State Logic’s XL Desk, the Soundcraft Vi7000, Aurus Platinum from Stagetec and Studer’s Vista V Infinity. Meanwhile the ‘Sound Reinforcement Loudspeakers’ category boasts nominations for EAW’s Otto subwoofer, the EKX Series from Electro-Voice, the JBL VTX V25-II, Leopard from Meyer Sound, Powersoft’s M-System and the Turbosound iQ Series. Other categories such as ‘Microphone Preamplifiers’, ‘Recording Devices, ‘Signal Processing Hardware’ and ‘Studio Monitors’ will also be announced.
While the awards event will take place in the Anaheim Hilton Pacific Ballroom, it will also be streamed live on the web.
