NAMM to host biggest show yet for pro audio

WORLD: The 2016 NAMM Show is set to experience a seven per cent rise in the number of companies focusing on professional audio. The year-on-year leap in pro audio exhibitors continues the trend of the last five years, during which professional markets have become increasingly important to the show, which will open its doors in Anaheim, California, on January 21st.

Hosted by the National Association of Music Merchants, the NAMM Show has traditionally acted as a beacon for the global MI industry, a sector in which it continues to thrive. In more recent years, however, market convergence plus shifts in the global tradeshow calendar have prompted a surge in professional exhibitors and attendees. Accordingly, the 2016 show will reportedly host more than 2,500 brands displaying pro audio-related products.

Meanwhile the show’s education sessions – now falling under the banner of TEC Tracks – will feature topics encompassing audio within houses of worship, studio production and live sound. Keynote sessions will be delivered by Eddie Kramer, Tony Brown and Moses Avalon, while AES members will offer presentations. Attendees will also be able to visit the LeMobile vintage mobile studio – responsible for more than 50 gold and platinum records, while on the evening of January 23rd, the TEC Awards will take place with newly expanded, pro audio-related categories.

In the November-December issue of Pro Audio Asia, NAMM president Joe Lamond discussed NAMM’s relationship with the pro audio industry. ‘It offers a dynamic pro audio presence, showcasing the latest products in audio technology and with specialised programming,’ he said. ‘With this technology-focused segment of the show, you’ll have the opportunity to enter a community of people on the inside to generate unique conversations and ideas.’

The 2016 NAMM Show will take place from January 21st to 24th at California’s Anaheim Convention Center.
