New organisational structure for Pro Light & Sound and Musikmesse

WORLD: A new organisational structure will be put into place for next year’s Musikmesse and Pro Light & Sound, with organiser Messe Frankfurt stating that it will focus its expertise upon its Entertainment, Media and Creative Industries business unit, which will be led by Michael Biwer. This will see Mr Biwer take responsibility for the strategic planning of both events, as well as the key account management.
Mr Biwer has served as director of PL&S since 2010. With his new and expanded role, he will continue to report to Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH senior vice president, Stephan Kurzawski, and will preside over international activities in the field of business.
The new sales and planning department will oversee the sales activities for both shows and will be managed by Mr Biwer until a permanent appointment is announced. Meanwhile, Wolfgang Lücke steps away from sales to head up the new special events and entertainment department, in which he will take responsibility for the programme of events at both Musikmesse and Pro Light & Sound.
The business relationships department, led by Binu Thomas, will continue to seek out external sponsors while also maintaining retailer and key communicator management. Advertising and the ever-expanding media coverage, along with PR, will be handled by the marketing communications department, and Christopher Sparkes continues to head-up the communication team of the Entertainment, Media and Creative Industries business unit.
‘Against the background of a changing market, we aim to offer our customers convincing arguments for taking part and gaining a wide-ranging overview of the market within the framework of the two international trade fairs,’ declared Messe Frankfurt member of the board of management, Detlef Braun. ‘With the strategic step of reorganisation, we are focusing expert knowledge and intensifying our working relationship with associations, exhibitors, visitors, key communicators and partners.’
Pro Light & Sound will take place from 4th – 7th April, while Musikmesse will begin a day later, from 5th – 8th April 2017.
