New year, new brand, new technology

WORLD: 2017 will herald a new brand and a new technology. Combining Class-A audio quality with reportedly higher than Class-D levels of efficiency, Redx is set to unveil what it describes as a groundbreaking solution called Class-SSA at the ISE exhibition in Amsterdam (7-10 February).

‘It has been 30 years since Class-D matured into a stable amplifier platform, reaching a ubiquitous level of acceptance due to its energy efficiency benefits over earlier technologies,’ commented spokesman David Rong. ‘However, amplification technology has incrementally lost fidelity with each improvement in efficiency.’

Furthermore, Redx is taking a unique approach to product sales and marketing for its family of PoE/Dante-enabled amplifiers and DI boxes. Bypassing the classic MI/pro audio distribution-dealer route to market model, the PoE products will be sold wholly through e-tailers and an e-commerce site. Product delivery will be handled through regional fulfilment centres.

‘Our concept is to provide the market with an aggressively priced line of interfacing amplifiers and DI boxes that will lower the cost of entry for a simple Dante network solution,’ furthered Mr Rong. ‘For example, Redx are advising that the PoE/Dante-enabled amplifier will be sold at an extremely competitive price point. In sufficient quantities, the target retail price will be under US$100.’

The product line has been specifically designed for performers wishing to connect stage instruments, laptops and other portable sources via the Dante network to a digital mixing console or DSP processor. The amplifier is fully IEEE802.3 compatible providing 9W RMS or 35W peak (af) or 20W RMS/70W peak (at). The PoE/Dante-enabled DI box features both a high impedance musical instrument input, as well as a standard Mic/Line (with stereo audio) input.

Redx will be exhibiting at ISE in Hall 14 on booth C-103.
