OCA Alliance gains three new members

WORLD: 1602 Group, Archwave Technologies and TOA Corporation are set to join the OCA Alliance following the group’s live demonstration of AES70 interoperability at InfoComm 2016.
1602 Group designs and manufactures custom control systems as an OEM manufacturer. The company also reportedly has 16,000 product installations globally.
Archwave Technologies meanwhile provides live sound networking and USB audio streaming, offering an open standards development approach with both its AudioLan and USB Audio product suites being AES67 and Ravenna complaint. Its decision, therefore, to support another open standard comes as no great surprise.
Additionally, TOA Corporation manufactures and supplies large-scale sound reinforcement, voice communication, evacuation and emergency paging systems, A/V security systems, as well as conferencing and congress technologies. By joining the group, the company aims to further the OCA/AES70 as an industry-wide standard.
‘InfoComm was a major success, in that AES ratification of OCA attracted significantly greater attention from all manner of A/V manufacturers, and that our live demonstration showed the potential power and extensive capabilities of the standard,’ stated Ethan Wetzell, engineering core platform strategist at Bosch, speaking for the OCA Alliance.
David Crundwell, 1602 Group systems architect and director, expressed positivity toward the latest move. ‘1602 Group is excited to be part of the OCA Alliance. Starting out in the late 1960s controlling musical instruments we were, as part of Solid State Logic, a founding member of the MIDI specification and have experience in working together with other organisations to improve the end user experience. We look forward to working with AES70 using our new A/V-Portal system.’
Arie van den Broek, chief executive officer of Archwave Technologies, voiced similar praise for the new deal. ‘Being dedicated to Open Technologies and standardisation in Audio-over-IP, joining the OCA Alliance was a logical extension to Archwave’s current leading position as provider for modular AolP solutions for Ravenna and AES67. We are excited to work with the OCA Alliance and its members to further promote AES70-standard in our industry.’
