WORLD: Due to increasing demand across its offices in Hong Kong, Sydney and London, Theatreplan has added to its team of consultants with the hiring of Matt Kingslake. A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, Mr Kingslake has toured the world with Holiday on Ice, working in the electrical department before becoming chief electrician on the show. He has also served as technical manager at Grimsby Auditorium and was the first to work in that role at the Grove Theatre in Dunstable.
‘I worked closely with Theatreplan during the construction and commissioning of the Grove Theatre,’ said Mr Kingslake. ‘I am delighted to be part of a team and look forward to playing a key role in the company’s future development.’
Mathew Smethurst-Evans, director at Theatreplan, noted that Mr Kingslake’s previous working relationship with the company had given him an appreciation for its approach to theatre design. ‘He already has a close working relationship with our consultant team,’ Mr Smethurst-Evans explained. ‘With a 25-year career working in a variety of technical theatre roles, Matt is a hugely experienced technical manager with all-round project management skills.’
