Wheatstone hires Lon Neumann as IP adoption increases

WORLD: The current secretary of the SMPTE committee, Lon Neumann, has been appointed to the role of sales engineer at Wheatstone. In this role, Mr Neumann will focus upon the manufacturer’s portfolio of audio consoles and IP routing systems for the television broadcast sector.

‘The market is at a very critical point in its adoption of IP,’ explained Gary Snow, president and CEO at Wheatstone. ‘Lon is one of those rare individuals who has the deep knowledge of audio engineering issues that can help television broadcasters make the transition to IP.’

Mr Neumann possesses strong broadcast sector experience, having served as an audio support engineer at major televised events, such as the Oscars, the Daytime Emmy Awards and the Golden Globes. He is the author of the digital audio chapter found in the American Society of Cinematographers’ AC Video Manual, has chaired AES presentations regarding digital audio interface issues and served as a keynote speaker during a meeting between NY SMPTE, SBE, AES and IEEE members.

A member of both the AES and the Society of Television Engineers, Mr Neumann’s previous professional roles include stints as senior technical consultant at THX, regional manager/field applications engineer at Linear Acoustics and regional manager at NVision.

‘I view my role as bringing new opportunities to broadcasters,’ enthused Mr Neumann. ‘I look forward to collaborating with our customers in the field.’
