A For-A into the High Desert

USA: To enable live streams of the sermons delivered from its main campus in Victorville, California, the High Desert Church recently invested in a For-A HVS-2000 video switcher. With a congregation of more than 8,000 worshippers spread across its four campuses in Apple Valley, Phelan and Hesperia, as well as the main Victorville sanctuary, the High Desert Church required the ability to live stream its sermons from Victorville across all four locations. The HVS-2000 enables a live IMAG cut to be displayed in the Victorville campus auditorium as the pastors speak there, while also broadcasting at the other three sites.

‘With the HVS-2000, I can use the MELite feature to transform a traditional aux bus into a fully-functioned M/E with cuts, mixes, wipes and keys,’ explains High Desert Church’s production director, Sam Pendergrass. ‘I love having this flexibility. In some scenarios I don’t need a fully featured MELite, and in that case, I can simply throw a FLEXaKEY on an aux output to place keyers in areas of the switchers where I need them. We have multi-image display walls, and it’s also very nice that the switcher can parse an image to different outputs. The ability to switch back and forth seamlessly without external processors is very convenient.’

A team of volunteers from the High Desert community operate the switcher during the services and make use of the 12 aux outputs provided by the switcher. The flexibility and control offered by way of the various inputs and outputs featured on the HVS-2000 gave reason enough for the church to select the For-A switcher.

‘We’re very satisfied with our new switcher,’ concludes Mr Pendergrass. ‘The HVS-2000 is more than capable of handling our church’s video production needs, and we really like that it also leaves room for future expansion. For-A has been so helpful through every stage of our journey, and the entire purchase and configuration process was all very smooth.’
