SRI LANKA: ARX’s MSX series audio splitters were used by Panadura-based Creative Entertainment Pvt Ltd during Pope Francis’ recent visit to Columbo, Sri Lanka. A reported crowd of more than one million people turned out to witness the Pope canonise the country’s first Saint, the 17th-Century missionary Joseph Vaz.
‘The supply and sale was arranged in late 2014 by ARX's Sri Lankan representative Mohan Jayasuriya,’ explained ARX managing director, Colin Park. ‘Creative Entertainment utilised four units of MSX 32 Tall Active and one MSX 48 passive mic/line splitter.’
The splitters served two functions, with some used for broadcast and microphone splitting while the remainder were used for signal distribution for the sound reinforcement system. With a crowd of one million in attendance, the audio system needed to cover an extensive area – all the way along the Galle Face Green, from the Galle Face Hotel to the Old Parliament opposite Tak Samudra.
In all, a total of 48 fully isolated transformer outputs provided audio signals throughout the area and to the many media organisations attending and broadcasting the event worldwide.
