Biemas Lava flows into busy church

US: The Northeast Bible Church (NEBC), a thriving congregation in Plano, Texas, required a new loudspeaker system that could project audio for its lively church services. Jeff McLeod, managing director of Church Audio Video in Grand Prairie, TX was brought into specify the job and chose the Biema Little Active Vertical Array (Lava).
The NEBC has a complete band including acoustic drums, bass, electric guitar, keyboards and percussion. All of the instruments are either miked or interfaced with Radial Dis, while a 30-voice choir is the centrepiece of the praise department. ‘I chose the Lava over other options because of its ability to produce audio from instrumental music, vocals and the spoken word equally well,’ said Mr McLeod
Although the sanctuary space seats only 300 worshipers, the church wanted a loudspeaker system that would fill the room with rich, full bandwidth audio. ‘The Lavas have more than enough horsepower to keep every seat in the house reinforced with smooth, even coverage,’ Mr McLeod added. The Lava system is designed to deliver high-quality reinforcement of music and speech in a wide variety of applications including concert audio and corporate A/V presentations of all types for both portable and fixed installations.
The Lava-A is a very compact, lightweight enclosure housing two 6.75-inch low-mid woofers and one 2-inch dome compression driver. The Lava-B houses two 12-inch woofers and a rear mounted power amplifier. The advanced component design and density are said to provide an extremely high power to weight ratio. The amplification rear-mounted on the Lava-B has ample power for four Lava-A cabinets and one Lava-B cabinet, with frequency adjustments and volume control also on the rear of the amplifier. The flexibility of the hardware makes it possible for the array to be groundstacked or flown for use as FOH system, offstage fill, stereo in-fill, centre cluster or delay cluster.
