Bread of Life Christian Church goes with Coda

TAIWAN: Bread of Life Christian Church in Tainan City in southern Taiwan has installed a new sound system from Coda Audio.
The 1,000 capacity church which holds up to three services a day began its search for a new system in April with a date for the first use set for June 26th. This left little time for Sounder Co, the project partner of Coda Audio’s distributors in Taiwan, Orpheus Acoustics Co. Ltd to design and propose a full sound system for the audio system.
The main issues for designing the system were based around the shape of the building and its low ceiling height of just 4m. To overcome this, Sounder Co decided not to use traditional speaker system design and placement instead opting for the compact Coda Audio LA4 system. Coda Ease Focus simulations using data for the LA4 produced good results on paper and these were submitted along with the full system design for the tender. The system comprises 16 LA4 with four LA4-SUBs for the main PA, with K5s used for the side delay areas and K4s for the rear delay areas, G308s are used for on stage monitoring.
The Church’s musical and choral leader, Mr Kuo, who is also an experienced sound engineer and all-round audio professional, was both pleased and surprised at the system design and the small size of the Coda Audio LA4 system; being very keen to avoid the use of large cabinets, the design seemed to answer all requirements.
After the official design review, which took about two weeks, the contract was awarded to Sounder Co. There then followed a rapid installation project where Soddy Wu, designer and overall project manager for Sounder Co and his team were tasked with installing the system before the first congregational event. With his team and support from all suppliers, the system was installed and ready to go for the 26th June 2010.
Commenting on the design and working results, Mr Wu said: ‘I can only express my great pleasure with the system, we have none of the microphone feedback issues that can so easily dominate live sound systems is such physical locations, musicians and singers can move freely about the stage without any fear of feedback. At FOH we achieve a level of between 108dB and 112dB at 15m.’
The church has been impressed with the performance of the Coda system, and is in discussions about a new project for one of its larger Taipei based congregations.
