FLS brings Aviom to Calvary Convention Centre

MALAYSIA: First Live Sound (FLS) Sdn Bhd recently supplied and installed a number of Aviom products into Kuala Lumpur’s Calvary Church, a brand new 5,000-seater worship venue at the Calvary Convention Center.
Working with Coda Group Pte Ltd – the Aviom distributor for Singapore and Malaysia – FLS equipped the Church with a total of seven Aviom A360 personal mixers, one Aviom AN-16/iv2 input module and one Aviom A-16DPro A-Net distributor.
‘The church is already using an Aviom personal mixing solution at their Damansara Heights Church venue, therefore it was a natural progression to have Aviom at the CCC,’ said FLS’ Danny Kinchang. ‘Apart from reducing the stage volume and clutter associated with using conventional monitor loudspeakers for each musician, it also allows the music team to hear each other in much more detail, thus improving their individual musicianship and overall band performance.
‘This was the first time anyone from the church has come in contact with the new A360 mixer since its release in January 2013,’ he stated. ‘Also, there are some new features on the mixer layout as compared to the A-16II but the band quickly took to the new personal mixers as they are very user intuitive. The overall audio performance of the A360 is a marked improvement compared to previous generations. The individual channel tone (EQ) control, individual channel reverb and the on board ambient mic are also welcome features that give each user custom control,’ he added.
All analogue audio (using a mixture of direct outputs and auxiliary mixes) is sent from a DiGiCo Stage Rack to the Aviom AN-16/iv2 line input module, where it sends out a 16-channel A-Net stream over a single Cat-5e network cable to the A-16DPro, to be distributed to the individual A360 personal mixers. According to FLS, a dedicated monitor mixing console was not needed as the majority of the music team use the Aviom personal mixing system.
‘The Aviom system was integrated and functions flawlessly without any complications,’ enthused Mr Kinchang. ‘The client is very happy and is completely satisfied with this project.’
