US: Headquartered in Fenton, Missouri, Joyce Meyer Ministries is reaching more than 4.5 billion people through Enjoying Everyday Life its cornerstone daily broadcast, as well as through Podcasts, radio, and other media technologies. Recently Joyce Meyer Ministries transitioned to high definition for its video production.
In order to meet the needs of providing meaningful content on a daily basis, in addition to studio production other sources are utilised as well as John Pipes, senior producer, Joyce Meyer Ministries, explained, ‘Enjoying Everyday Life is a daily program, so we shoot a lot of material in large arena events as well as in the studio. We also do quite a bit of EFP shooting, highlighting our humanitarian aid efforts around the world.’
Supporting a Joyce Meyer arena event takes a total of seven semi trucks with sound, lights, and staging, with one truck dedicated to the broadcast equipment. The camera complement includes six Sony HSC-300K triax-based HD cameras-two of which are equipped with full studio configurations and Fujinon XA87x9.3BESM box lenses. In the studio Joyce Meyer Ministries uses four video cameras, three of them outfitted with Fujinon HA26X6.7 lenses and there are also three additional EFP (Electronic Field Production) video cameras. ‘So we’re constantly shooting with those 13 cameras any given day of the week on one type of system or another,’ noted Mr Pipes.
An inventory of wide angle as well as standard lenses for a total of 15 lenses provides the ability for Joyce Meyer Ministries to use one or the other for its Sony PDW-F800 XDCAM EFP camcorders. Other available lenses include Premier Series HA lenses and some HD Select Series ZA lenses. ‘We purchased four wide angle ZA series lenses for our arena events and our studio because they don’t take the beatings that the EFP cameras do. We felt optical quality was comparable and the cost savings in going with the ZA series was beneficial,’ said Mr Pipes.
The HA Series lenses are used on the EFP cameras, where they are have operated on location shoots worldwide, including Australia, South America, and Africa.
Reinforcing Joyce Meyer Ministries commitment to Fujinon lenses was the fact the some of the larger, older lenses could still be used with their new HD cameras. ‘As a testimony to the quality of the Fujinon lenses, Fujifilm said they could be mounted on the new HD cameras,’ Mr Pipes said. ‘We were able to use those five lenses on the new HD cameras.’
‘We always strive to have our television production be something that is very high quality. Which is why, after our recent transition from standard-def to high-def, we stayed with Fujinon lenses,’ concluded Mr Pipes.
