Grace and Truth Church upgrades with Electro-Voice

SOUTH KOREA: An Electro-Voice sound reinforcement system has recently been installed into the Grace and Truth Church’s Suwon chapel as part of a major expansion project.

Founded by senior pastor Yong Mok Cho in 1982, the church initially had a following of 465 members, which has since expanded to 105,000. The Suwon sanctuary was constructed in 1988, and prior to the new sound system installation the chapel was using the original ageing system. Therefore, a unanimous decision was made by management to replace the entire main audio system.

The church’s primary requirements were for a solution that could provide clear voice transmission and a wide vocal range, rather than delivering a full frequency response. Following a product demonstration, management decided that Electro-Voice was the most appropriate solution.

A number of EVH-1152D/64 black horn-loaded loudspeaker systems from Electro-Voice’s Innovation range were chosen to form the centre cluster. The product’s constant directivity horn technology works to direct more sound at the audience and less at reflective room surfaces, making it suited for voice intelligibility and clarity during sermons and performances. Providing further support are a number of PX1122M loudspeakers, which take on stage monitoring duties.

A total of 10 TG5 power amplifiers were set-up to enhance the sonic performance of the loudspeakers, whilst Dx46 sound system processors together with Iris-Net software manage and supervise the entire audio system.

‘Voice intelligibility and clarity has improved tremendously, enhancing the sound experience during sermons and performances,’ said an Electro-Voice company spokesperson. ‘Also, it enables the engineers to set up and tune the systems easily.’
