Houses of Worship Technologies Asia launches comprehensive seminar programme

SINGAPORE: The inaugural Houses of Worship Technologies Asia exhibition featured a plethora of basic and advanced technical seminars on audio, video and lighting techniques for the worship market sector, as well as two industry experts’ forums.

‘This event provides a dedicated platform for our exhibitors to cater specialised technical solutions to the needs of the houses of worship sector, which is growing immensely in the Asia Pacific region – especially in Singapore,’ said Anna Cheong, exhibitions director, IIR Exhibitions Pte Ltd. ‘Key highlights included a suite of free product demonstrations and workshops provided by the exhibitors, a series of technology seminars and expert industry forums conducted by leading industry experts, and a dedicated area known as the ‘Consultants Corner’. This event was created to focus on educating the technical worship teams of the latest technologies and trends,’ she added.

The varied range of seminars targeted both beginners and professionals, and were lead by a combination of professional musicians, engineers, producers and experienced consultants.

Seminars included ‘Getting Started with the Mixing Console’ by EC Tan from Full Gospel Assembly, Malaysia, as well as ‘Harnessing Technologies for Church
Worship – What are they and why?’ by Robert Soo from Cogent Acoustics, Singapore. Others included ‘How to Determine and Set-up PA Systems for Mosques’ by Yusof Ahmad from Uniaudio Asia, Singapore, and ‘Monitoring for Musicians and Vocalists’ by Daniel Loh from The Star PAC, Singapore.

Additional sessions included ‘Microphone Introduction and Basic Microphone Techniques’ by Owen Leung, Shure Asia, Singapore, ‘Planning, Designing and Budgeting for Houses of Worship’ by Andrew Coomby, Latter Rain Church, Malaysia, and ‘Lighting System Design Essentials’ by SeaChanger’s Stephen Ellison.

As well as various seminars that targeted camera operators, Houses of Worship Technologies Asia 2012 also featured separate panel discussions for church and mosque specialists, advanced lectures on audio, video and lighting and seminars on church video production and lighting design for video cameras. The show also featured a number of product workshops and hands-on training sessions.

The organiser reports that the official post-show press release with site visitor information and exhibitor comments will be available in approximately two weeks time.
