Joongri Catholic Church installs Community

KOREA: The Joongri Catholic Church in Gumi Province, Korea, has installed a new audio system using Entasys column line-array loudspeakers made by US manufacturer Community.

The system replaces basic column speakers described by the church as ‘flat and dry sounding, lacking clarity and difficult to hear for many in the building’. Kyonggi-based Bo-sung Electronics designed and installed the new solution.

Dealing with a long room and highly reflective surfaces, Bo-sung needed a system that would provide high intelligibility with wide horizontal but tight vertical dispersion. Each Entasys full-range column includes six low frequency neodymium drivers, 18 x 2.35-inch midrange drivers and six 7-inch planar-coupled Compact Ribbon Emulator high frequency elements. According to Bo-sung the power, throw and coverage of the Entasys columns proved to be so efficient that only two units were required.

‘The improvement is remarkable and the church is very pleased with the new system,’ comments Danny Jung of Inter-M Corporation, Community’s Korean distributor. ‘The sound is full and clear with excellent intelligibility and coverage for the voice of the pastor.’

Originally built in 2004 at a cost of around US$1.2million, Joongri Catholic Church comprises 1,725-sq-m over two floors. An auditorium is situated on the ground floor and the first floor houses the congregation seating and offices.
