AUSTRALIA: Manudrah Baptist College in Western Australia has completed construction of its 1,200 seat auditorium opting for Acoustic Technologies’ Blackbird range for the sound.
The venue needed to meet multiple requirements for the school as well as serve the needs of the local Baptist church which uses the facility each Sunday. Rick Browne of Venue Technical Services was selected to install a complete audio system for the hall. The layout is a quarter segment shape and the system needed to be able to provide even coverage to every seat.
The school looked at a number of options before going for Acoustic Technologies. The system selected consists of 12 Blackbird TLA308 cabinets arranged six per side at front of house. These were supplemented by four TLA308B sub bass boxes arranged two per side. Foldback came from four TH750XA 12-inch active speakers. Four HD7 amps provided the power and two DSP2X4 were used for the processing.
One of the challenges for the installation was the lack of traditional hanging hardware over the stage. This meant Venue Technical Services needed to create a custom bracket mounting system to use with the room spanning bulkheads.
