Mega Sound Workshop 2012 hailed a success

MALAYSIA: More than 50 audio technicians from various churches in East and West Malaysia recently gathered for the annual Mega Sound Workshop in Petaling Jaya. Organised by Mega Chinese Methodist Church, this series of workshops has already trained several hundred technicians in Malaysia since it first took place in 2001.
The main speaker for the three-day workshop was Robert Soo from Singapore. Mr Soo who is the principal consultant and trainer at Cogent Acoustics has been conducting training sessions like these and provided consultancy services on A/V systems and acoustics to churches in the region since 1996.
Designed to provide the trainees with ‘a holistic approach to the sound system’, the workshop covered everything from the fundamentals of every device in the signal chain, to the setting up of a fully operational system.
This year’s workshop attributes part of its success to the superb support provided by some established players in the pro-audio industry, namely Allen & Heath, Audio Technica, myMix and QSC. The manufacturers sponsored a whole arsenal of training equipment such as mixing consoles, microphone systems, FOH loudspeakers, stage monitors, personal monitoring systems and power amplifiers.
