New conference system for Baptist University

HONG KONG: Forward AV System Limited of Kwun Tong has completed a prestigious installation at the Baptist University in Kowloon, Hong Kong, in which the facility has gained a cutting edge conference system designed and built by Taiwan’s BXB Electronics Company Limited.
In a large conference room also used as a lecture theatre, Forward AV has installed Epson projection and a JBL/Crown PA system as well as BXB’s FCS 6000 and 3000 Series digital conference technology combining both table-top and flush-mounted delegate units. The conference system is occasionally routed to the PA, but mostly the stereo-configured FOH system is used for speech and music/A/V playback.
The system includes one FCS 6015 table-top chairman unit, four FCS 6016 table-top delegate units and 46 FCS 3026 flush-mounted delegate units, managed by an FCS 6051 main control unit and BXB’s proprietary FCS 3071 graphical control software. The FCS 6051 can control up to 10 chairman units and 500 delegate units and features a 4 x 20 digit LCD monitor display. The delegate units all feature push-button ‘control and talk’ functionality and detachable gooseneck microphones, while the FCS 6015 and 6016 have 2 x 24 digit LCD displays, voting buttons and built-in speakers. The FCS 3026 units have headphone outputs.
BXB’s digital conference system integrates with several ancillary functions, managed via BXB’s proprietary software, including audio feeds, voting, auto-image tracing and positioning and simultaneous interpretation. The software accommodates 14 languages, synchronises the 6051 control unit with a PC, records to MP3, allows editing of individual attendee data and is configurable according to the actual seating environment of the room.
‘The main attraction of this particular system is the ratio of functionality to price,’ said Raymond Cheung, sales manager at Forward AV. ‘We made comparisons with several brands, and arranged a demonstration. BXB is always very attentive to our requests.’ Sales engineer Patrick Wong added: ‘One if the major advantages of a digital system like this is that all of the connections are possible using single Cat-5 cable, which is easily maintained if a disconnection occurs.’
Conferences can be recorded either from the FCS 6051 control unit or directly from the delegate unit gooseneck microphones, and a five-button voting option is built in to each of the table-top units. ‘This system call also controls ceiling mount cameras,’ added Mr Cheung, ‘to supply a video feed of the conference, to project on the screen and for recording. It’s compatible with all the projector brands we supply, not just Epson but also Mitsubishi or Sanyo.’
BXB Electronics, based in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, is now entering its 20th year of manufacturing PA and conference systems. Forward AV has been an A/V system design company since 1993, serving a wide variety of campuses, restaurants, meeting halls, offices and public organisations.
