In this month’s Q&A, we quiz the founder of More Technologies about his company’s drive to deliver intelligible sound systems to the Asian HOW market and beyond...
What is your main role at More Technologies and where are you based?
More Technologies Inc serves as the export marketing representative for our manufacturers. We cover a large geographical area in the Asia/Pacific region, from Korea and Japan in the north to Australia and New Zealand in the south – and west to India. We’re based in Los Angeles, where we remain well connected with the factory, and we remain equally well connected with our customers in the territory with frequent visits. With the 16-hour time zone difference, we often run long office hours! Excellent customer service adds to the value of a good distribution network.
To what extent is the house of worship market a growth market for you?
Houses of worship exist to convey a message. An intelligible sound system is therefore imperative. Lectrosonics wireless microphone systems are widely used in critical applications such as performing arts theatres, broadcast and motion picture recording industries, and the dependability and performance of these systems is equally important to houses of worship. We see a good market for innovative, high-quality equipment in this sector.
Where does your experience and knowledge of the house of worship market come from?
We have been serving the commercial sound market since 1978. One memorable installation was the very large outdoor sound system at the Port au Prince Airport in Haiti for the 1983 visit of Pope John Paul II. Another memorable job was the on-site design of a circular church in Papeete, French Polynesia.
What are your plans to help Asian houses of worship learn more about Lectrosonics?
We wish to present to our HOW market that there is a high performance option for wireless mic and signal processing. These are proven products in the installed sound, broadcast and motion picture industries. We are now bringing these to our HOW market.
What kinds of new A/V technology should church volunteers be aware of?
A house of worship sound system must be simple to operate. We leverage the technology within our equipment to simplify the operation with a minimum learning curve for the operator. Operator attention can, as a result of the technology being easy to use, focus on the service.
What’s the most rewarding thing about your job?
The greatest reward comes from establishing a long-term relationship with our satisfied – and hence loyal – customers.
