Prosound called in for Bryanston church upgrade

SOUTH AFRICA: Prosound recently upgraded the sound system at Bryanston Catholic Church in Johannesburg. The aim of the upgrade was to improve the sound quality for the spoken word.

Father Keith Gordon-Davies enlisted Prosound to upgrade the church’s sound system, enabling the preachers’ and readers’ voices to be enhanced and also limiting the chances of alterations being made to sound levels and setups during Mass. Prosound sales consultant, Victor Vermaak, was tasked with the job having worked on a number of similar projects at other churches around Gauteng.

The solution came via Ashly and Electro-Voice equipment. An Ashly NE24.24 was chosen for speaker management and sound processing, as once it is set up with Protea software the system can essentially be locked away, rendering it tamper proof. Electro-Voice ZX5 cabinets and TX1181 subs were selected for the main system, some having to be stripped and re-finished in white at the special request of the church. The expertise of Prosound specialists Boy Magnussen, Grant Scott and Mark Malherbe was called in for the design of a speaker cluster bracket to hold two TX1181 subs as well as three ZX5s, thereby allowing the subs to fly from the ceiling.

The new system was installed prior to the Easter services and has reportedly received compliments from the congregation.
