Prosound returns to Johannesburg’s Bridge Church

SOUTH AFRICA: Following the installation of an Electro-Voice sound system at the 400-seat Crossroads Church in Alberton, Johannesburg, Prosound has returned to outfit the main auditorium with an additional E-V rig. The ministry, now named Bridge Church, has recently completed a series of building alterations and upgrades. The latest auditorium system is formed from the manufacturer’s new ETX series.

Prosound has flown four ETX-15s at the front of the stage, with ETX-10s flown as side fills. A further two ETX-10s mounted mid-way down the length of the auditorium serve as delays, while six S-40 front fills are mounted to a ladder truss at the front edge of the stage to increase high frequency brightness for the front seats. Additionally, a pair of ETX-18 subwoofers have been installed in pits to the left and right of the stage for low-end enhancement, with ETX-15s in front of the stage extending bass coverage throughout the audience area.

Processing for the ETX system comes from the existing DC-One installed as part of the original Prosound project, while the subwoofers are fed from a mono aux from a Midas M32 mixing console. The existing Q series amplifiers were also used to power the S40 front fills in the main auditorium, while the previously installed SX300 cabinets and SB112 subwoofers have been redeployed in other venues on the church premises.

The new system has won the praise of Pastor Trevor Coleman, who enthused that he has ‘been pleasantly surprised by the powerful but rich sound that could be expected from more high-end systems but at a significantly more reasonable price.’
