INDIA: A new sound reinforcement system has been installed at The Presbyterian Church of Mizoram in Northern India. Supplied by New Delhi-based Sun Infonet and installed by Aizawl-based Delta Sound, the new system will be used to aid in player meetings that take place every morning and every Saturday night by increasing speech intelligibility and SPL levels throughout the building’s main hall.
At an estimated 87 per cent of the population, the state of Mizoram consists largely of Christian worshippers. The Presbyterian Church of Mizoram was the first to be opened in the state, and as a result, is now the largest Christian denomination there. Its mission is to promote knowledge and understanding of the Bible and theology while growing its Christian discipleship and helping to develop cross-cultural ministry skills.
Delta Sound installed loudspeaker hangs on either side of the altar, each comprising a pair of Quest QM 700 passive enclosures that were selected for their ‘high-power performance and lightweight characteristics’ and have been deployed in a line array configuration. Elsewhere in the main hall, Quest QSA300 active cabinets have been mounted to pillars throughout the nave for additional distributed coverage. These are powered by Quest QA2004 and QA 1004 amplifiers.
Completing the audio system now in use is a 20-input Allen & Heath PA28 which is fed from a Shure SVX24/PG58 wireless vocal system and SVX14/CVL wireless presenter system. The result, according to the installers, is ‘uniform and crystal clear sound that can be heard all across the church hall’.
