QV Sound breaks the mould at Dong Tien Church

VIETNAM: QV Sound, the official Vietnamese representative for QSC, Neutrik and Van Damme, has recently installed a sound system into the brand new Dong Tien Church in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. With the church placing a heavy emphasis on the importance of natural and clear sound, the team discarded the system approach it usually relied upon in HOWs, opting to install 22 QSC AcousticDesign speakers plus VDC cabling throughout.

Described as one of the largest and most beautiful churches in the city, the 2,500 sq-m building consists of a central aisle, left and right wings, and a 24m high dormitory ceiling.

‘The most critical element of Dong Tien Church is not in the beauty or the architecture or the landscape, but in the sound system,’ said Ho Chi Minh City Bishop, Tran Thanh Cao. ‘The sound system needs to deliver the natural sound and clearly convey every single spoken word.’

QV Sound team used Ease modelling software to calculate the optimum speaker locations. Each hall and wing speaker system was set with two delay sub-stations to provide enhanced speech intelligibility.

‘For the most impact, the message not only needs to be heard clearly and naturally but it should be heard from the front and above,’ QV Sound’s business development manager, Quoc Nguyen explained.

The designed system ended up using 22 AcousticDesign Series loudspeakers driven by QSC power amplifiers. For low-end reinforcement, the team installed two WL-series subwoofers, all connected with Van Damme Black Series speaker cables, XKE microphone and instrument cables, and Neutrik connectors.

‘I have tried many options, layouts and plans from different sound companies but they did not come close to desired objective,’ Bishop Cao explained. ‘Only QV Sound finally achieved it. Thank you for your professionalism and dedication.’

The church’s choir singers are also pleased with the sound system. ‘The sound system is amazing,’ Sister Nham said. ‘The vocals are so clear and the organ sound is so beautifully produced throughout the church.’
