RedNet connects InTouch Ministries

USA: Often described as a ‘state-of-the-art media ministry’, InTouch Ministries has recently added Focusrite RedNet Dante network interfaces to five audio control rooms and two isolation voiceover booths. The inclusion of the RedNet devices installed by systems integrator CTS reportedly enables seamless connection between the recording studios and voiceover booths, interfacing with a campus-wide Dante network.

The senior pastor of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta since 1971, Dr Charles Stanley’s first foray into broadcasting came in 1972 when he launched The Chapel Hour, airing on local Atlanta television. In the present day, In Touch with Dr Charles Stanley is broadcast across 2,600 radio and television outlets in over 50 languages. It spans not only the globe, but also various platforms in addition to radio and television, including podcasts and the InTouch Ministries Messenger and InTouch Apps.

The Focusrite system installed comprises five RedNet 5 Pro Tools HD interfaces, allowing for one per audio control room, and seven of the 8-channel RedNet 4 Mic Preamp in each of the control rooms and isolation booths. Also installed were a couple of the 16-channel RedNet 2 A-D/D-A interfaces in the two largest control rooms, Control A and Control C.

The decision to opt for the Focusrite RedNet equipment with its Dante capabilities tied in with the InTouch Ministries’ studio renovation. ‘We began an extensive renovation of their studios about 18 months ago, including an upgrade of their two existing soundstage-sized studios that support their television broadcasting, and most recently built the five new studios and voiceover spaces there, so it’s become a very complex facility,’ recalls Neal Watson, director of AVL integration at CTS. ‘We had already implemented Dante in the existing studios, so was an excellent choice for the new studios.’

The RedNet setup empowers any of the control rooms of voice over spaces to connect to any of the others in a simple and efficient fashion, as well as the whole of the campus-wide Dante network if required. ‘So, each room can use RedNet on a stand-alone basis but also have full connectivity to any other part of the larger network,’ chimes Mr Watson. ‘Combined with great sound, RedNet was the right choice. The people at the ministry were definitely able to hear that.’
