Sun City Church moves into place with Elite

USA: Many of the pages in Worship AVL detail what houses of worship need to create a better overall experience for congregants at their home locations, but many churches choose to step outside the four walls from time-to-time – some also don't have any walls to begin with – and little is said about the technology to facilitate this. As Dave Rodgers from Elite Screens notes, ‘Sometimes a permanent facility can be superfluous to a young congregation’s growth and evangelising requires an “out of the box” approach where resources are better used by not maintaining a permanent address’. One such church to look to a portable visual solution to engage its followers is Sun City Church in Spokane Valley, Washington.
When the Sun City Church moved to its present location, there was no projection screen at the new facility and a non-invasive and portable solution was required. Since this product would be moved into position, used and packed away with every service, it needed to be ‘mobile, easy, and fast’ to work with. The products selected by the church included a pair of Elite QuickStand 5-Second Series (QS180HD) projection screens.
‘The screens that we use for a Sunday morning service are really important for creating an atmosphere for our guests,’ says Kyle Menasco, production director at Sun City Church. ‘We want to create a really welcoming, new, vibrant atmosphere and having a great projection screen is really a crucial part of that.’
The church considers that video serves prominent function as the congregation grows. Pastor Danny Schulz, who leads services at Sun City, explains that ‘we use these screens every Sunday morning in our portable church environment. They provide a huge boost to the atmosphere of worship as our whole congregation can easily see both screens.' He adds that ‘the fact that they set up in less then a minute is incredible. And the fact that they roll up into a sturdy road case just makes them perfect for our situation.’
