The PA People outfits Christ College chapel

AUSTRALIA: The PA People has completed an audio, video and lighting installation for Christ College in Sydney – formally known as the Presbyterian Theological Centre. The college recently embarked on a widespread redevelopment of its facilities that has included a new library, training rooms and a chapel with an overflow hospitality area. While being operated under the Presbyterian Church of Australia, the centre is an affiliate institution of the Australian College of Theology and delivers the ACT’s undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and diplomas.
The college has a long history of theological teaching, having been established in 1873 by the New South Wales Presbyterian Assembly to provide training for its ministers. The emphasis of the centre is on practical Bible-based training which is ministry oriented.
The complete project included a new FOH system for the chapel comprising JBL CBT-series speakers, crown amplifiers and BSS Blue series DSP units. A Soundcraft Expression 1 console provides the necessary mixing capabilities and is fed from Shure wireless microphones. A simple FOH lighting setup was also installed that includes a single lighting bar positioned to illuminate the stage.
Catering to the chapel’s visual requirements, an NEC PA-500UG projector and 4.5m motorised screen was installed. Video signals are transported over HDBaseT with switching handled via an AMX DVX-3155SP presentation switcher. The complete audio, visual and lighting systems are controlled through AMX via two NXD series touch panels – one from the stage and one from the mix position.
In addition to this, The PA People mounted a Sony PTZ camera to the rear of the chapel. Aimed at the main lectern position, the camera faciliates remote access of services by external students and other audiences.
Josh Jones, project manager for The PA People added that 'the college also has several LCD screens and we provided a digital signage solution using Spinetix HMP200 players and Elementi software. It can be easily managed over their network from one computer.'
