ASIA: During August and September there are numerous opportunities to get some hands-on training with manufacturer-led workshops from d&b, Prolyte and Meyer Sound.
The first session is from d&b Audiotechnik and takes place on August 31 in Yokohama, Japan. The session is titled the line array workshop and provides an introduction to line array theory and the use of the manufacturer’s ArrayCalc software to plan line array setups as well as distributed subwoofer arrays.
A second date for the diary is Prolyte Asia Pacific’s rigging training workshop. This takes place from the 10th to the 14th September at the manufacturer’s regional HQ in Malaysia. The five-day course takes participants through the basics of rigging covering aspects such as calculations and drawings, truss and hoist technology, and risk assessment and safety concluding with an exam on the final day.
Finally, on the 13th and 14th September Meyer Sound will be hosting a mixing workshop in Seoul, Korea. The workshop focuses on the role of the mix engineer in live audio production covering tools and techniques and system tuning as well as addressing issues of communication and trust between the engineer and artist and the politics involved in any production.
