Yucaipa Churchs upgrades audio with JBL VRX

US: Ontario, CA-based Trinity Sound Company (TSC) has upgraded the 30-year-old sound system at the Yucaipa Church in Yucaipa, California with JBL’s VRX Compact Constant Curvature line arrays. The new loudspeaker system is located in the Church’s 500-seat, multipurpose event room.
With two main arrays each including four JBL VRX928LA dual 8-inch line array speakers and a VRX915S 1x15-inch subwoofer, TSC claims maximum coverage in a room used for worship, concerts, movies and general events. The square interior was designed with a stage in the front-right corner and the front-of-house sound booth in the rear-left corner, creating a very wide-fill area.
Each VRX928LA enclosure includes a patented high frequency waveguide with two compression drivers mounted on a continuous arc, enabling them to work together acoustically as if they were a single driver – said to ensure consistent, even coverage.
‘The room was just too big for plug-and-play, left-right speakers, but small enough that a large line array was unnecessary,’ says Devin DeVore, owner and head engineer at TSC. ‘With our budget and sound requirements, the very compact and low-profile JBL VRX928LA arrays provided the best value and performance, pleasing the client and delivering great sound.’
DeVore and TSC have used JBL loudspeakers for many years. ‘It’s nice to put a speaker system in and know that the product will sound exactly how it has been advertised,’ adds DeVore. ‘There is no exaggeration with JBL equipment: what it says, it does… right on the money.’
