MJ Events selects dLive for Anugerah Juara Lagu
MALAYSIA: An Allen & Heath dLive S Class system and an ME personal monitoring solution were employed for this year’s Anugerah Juara Lagu (Champion of Songs) broadcast on Malaysia’s TV3 channel. MJ Events was the rental company brought in to manage the audio setup at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
The S Class System that MJ Events put together comprised a dLive S7000 Surface with DM64 MixRack along with three S5000 and DM48 systems that managed the FOH and monitoring mixes. A Waves 3 network card enabled multitrack recording of 128 channels at 96kHz, while four GigaAce cards were used to split them. Splitting the channels allowed the sound team to operate the system as two separate boards, one covering the orchestra mix, the other for vocals.
‘We could split the 128 channels digitally without using analogue splitters, enabling us to maintain the sound quality of the event,’ recalled TV3 FOH engineer Zairi Arffin. ‘dLive also offers a redundant power supply and connection, which is great for a complex setup like this and the system is very user friendly.’
The ME personal monitoring system, meanwhile, included a pair of daisy-chained ME-U hubs running 16 ME-1 mixers for the musicians. ‘The whole ME system is very user friendly,’ said Hafizul Hafiz bin Hassan Ariff, TV3 monitor engineer.
