Alma TV launches DTH service

KAZAKHSTAN: Almatel Kazakhstan, which operates as Alma TV, has launched a new DTH (direct to home) satellite television platform using Harmonic's Electra X HEVC video compression solution. Electra X allows Alma TV to deliver SD, HD and UHD channels across the country, leveraging the HEVC video codec for with increased bandwidth efficiency.

‘When it came to finding a solution provider for video delivery, Harmonic was the clear choice based on their extensive deployment experience, technology innovation and competitive pricing,’ said Almatel Kazakhstan CEO Eric Franke. ‘Being able to deliver around 140 SD and HD channels from the same DTH platform improves efficiencies and gives us a competitive edge.’
