Amplification in the boardroom
‘Many conference rooms need simple, reliable audio amplification,’ said Biamp Systems’ director of product management, Shell Haffner, as the company unveils the AMP-A460H, a four-channel power amplifier designed specifically for small to medium sized conference and meeting rooms. When used in conjunction with the manufacturer’s TesiraForté audio processing systems, the amplifier reportedly equips integrators with the ability to customise the amplification in a boardroom, depending on the needs of the room’s size and layout.
An analogue amplifier, the AMP-A460H boasts four audio output channels of 60W per channel at 8-ohms. A pair of unit can also be bridged to supply 120W at 8-ohms or 120W with a direct drive constant voltage of 70V/100V. The half-rack unit is compact in design and includes a mounting kit for installation within standard racks. A balanced analogue line in has also been incorporated to facilitate easy integration with any TesiraForté system.
Biamp has made energy-saving considerations in the amplifier’s design, as the AMP-A460H will power down if no audio signal has been detected for a 25-minute period. To further simplify the system’s installation, setup is software-free and requires minimal sound distribution to begin its fan-less operation.
