Blackmagic ships Mini and Micro without global shutter
Backmagic Design is shipping the Ursa Mini 4.6K and Micro Cinema Camera with different specifications than those that were originally announced. The manufacturer has also debuted a short film to illustrate the feature set of the Ursa Mini 4.6K.
While both cameras were initially announced some time ago, Blackmagic Design has experienced delays in bringing them to market reportedly due to a longer than expected development time for the global shutter feature that was originally included within both cameras. Given the issues, the manufacturer has elected to ship the cameras without the feature. According to Blackmagic, the loss of the feature is counterbalanced by the availability of the cameras’ ‘wide dynamic range’, as demonstrated by the aforementioned short film.
